IoD Launch

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has relocated its Northern Ireland headquarters to the recently redeveloped Riddel Hall at Queen’s University Executive Centre, Stranmillis. IoD held an official launch in November, attended by its members from a broad spectrum of business sectors, MLAs, dignitaries and esteemed guest Simon Walker, Director General of IoD.

Speaking at the launch event which was sponsored by Bank of Ireland, IoD Director General Simon Walker praised the Riddel Hall facilities and outlined key issues and opportunities currently facing business leaders, including the importance of diversity at leadership level and the need for a reduction in corporation tax.

Mervyn McCall, Chairman of the IoD in Northern Ireland commented, “We are proud to have taken up base here at the recently redeveloped Riddel Hall, which will provide our members with first class meeting, IT and audio visual facilities. Importantly, it will allow us to further strengthen our relationship with Queen’s University and in particular its Leadership Institute and School of Management, whose postgraduate courses are delivered at Riddel Hall. We fully recognise the importance of the business sector working more closely with academia in order to best support and develop the business leaders of tomorrow.”

Queen’s Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Gregson welcomed IoD into the new facilities, echoing the importance of a “mutually beneficial partnership which will encourage continued professional development.”

The Institute of Directors represents over 43,000 UK directors ranging from start-up businesses to SMEs and large corporations across a broad range of economic sectors.
