Tell Tale
The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre / Ionad Ealaíon agus Cultúir Ghleann na Ró presents two fantastic storytelling events that promise to amuse and entertain this February.
First of these is A Haunted History on Thursday, 2 February at 7pm. This storytelling session focuses on ghostly myths and eerie legends of Limavady, but be warned as grisly tales of highwaymen, banshees and the last snake in Ireland will be unveiled!
If you think you’re brave enough then come along and listen to these haunting tales and learn more about Limavady’s haunted past. Storytelling is suitable for adults and children aged 8-14 years and costs £3 per adult and £2 per child. Advance booking is recommended.
On a more romantic note, another storytelling session is being held on Saturday, 11 February at 11am when the storytelling zone will be used to tell Love Stories of Limavady.
As William Makepeace Thackeray in the 19th century once wrote, “Beauty is not rare; in the land of Paddy Fair; beyond compare, is Peg of Limavady…”
These romantic sentiments portray the story of Thackeray’s visit to Limavady, where reputedly he fell in love with the subject of his poem, ‘Peg of Limavady’.
So come along to hear more about the romantic novelist and other love stories from Limavady’s past. Admission is free, but you are advised to book in advance.
To reserve spaces on either of these storytelling sessions or request further information please call Limavady Tourist Information on 028 777 60650.
