Mervyn Stewart Sales Rally by 25%
Mervyn Stewart Skoda hosted the 2011 IRC Driver’s Champion Andrea Mikkelsen this week, as the local dealership announced a year on year sales increase of 25% and major investment plans at the Boucher Crescent facility.
Mervyn Stewart Skoda, the locally owned ‘family run’ business established almost 50 years ago, is investing heavily in the Skoda brand, following the car manufacturers commitment to double their global sales by 2018.
The group investment amounts to a massive €14 billion, and includes a new two year phase of product development which aims to release a new model every 6 months – starting with the ‘Citigo’ in June 2012.
Managing Director at Mervyn Stewart Skoda, Stephen Stewart comments: “We are very confident in the new product development plans and are investing heavily in the Skoda brand to ensure we deliver an enjoyable experience for our customers in Belfast. We have dedicated our Boucher Crescent facilities to the Skoda brand as sales just keep on growing – when many other car manufacturer brands are in decline.”
The Skoda brand is now reputedly one of the most respected in the market. In 2011 fleet sales were up by 30%, an indication that bulk purchasers are choosing the Skoda brand over its traditional competitors.
Stephen continues: “In the ‘Skoda Family’ we are passionate about customer care and we share the values of the brand. Skoda is committed to their Retailer Network as illustrated by Andreas’ visit to Belfast. It was a real honour to have Andreas Mikkelsen the IRC Driver’s Champion at Boucher Crescent, especially since he’ll be defending his title at the IRC Circuit of Ireland Rally just three days later. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that we shared with motorsport fans – and was a great opportunity to showcase the Skoda Fabia S2000.”
Mervyn Stewart and the Skoda Motorsport Team combined to give local fans exclusive access to the IRC Drivers Champion before the Rally began. More than 120 competitors and visitors from around the globe will descend on Belfast for the third round of the global Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) – broadcast to 79 million viewers worldwide.
Andreas holds the record for being the youngest driver to win a British national rally, score FIA World Rally Championship points and set a fastest stage time on a WRC event at just 22 years old.
