Olympic Broadcast at City Hall
The Olympic Games Closing Ceremony will be broadcast live on the Big Screen on Sunday 12th August at 9pm as Northern Ireland gets ready to celebrate the success of its local athletes.
There will be music and entertainment for the whole family in the grounds of City Hall from 7.30pm to celebrate the end of the London 2012 Games, with an estimated audience of four billion expected to tune in from across the globe to watch the closing ceremony.
As a handover ceremony will be taking place in the Olympic stadium in London for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, there will be Brazilian-themed entertainment on the front lawn of the City Hall on Sunday evening with Samba dancers, carnival drummers, fire performers and flag dancers.
Lord Mayor of Belfast Alderman Gavin Robinson said: “The closing ceremony like the opening promises to be a spectacular occasion to mark the end of the Olympic Games. On Sunday evening, the grounds of City Hall will come alive with music, fire performers, carnival drummers, Brazilian dancers and acrobats and I`d encourage everyone to come down to join in the fun and share in the excitement.”
