Hilton Northern Ireland Contibutes to Landmark Carbon Trust Award for Hilton Worldwide

30th November 2009 - Hilton Belfast & Hilton Templepatrick have contributed towards the UK division of Hilton Worldwide becoming the first hotel company to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, after taking action on climate change by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint.

The Carbon Trust Standard is the world's first carbon award that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and actually make real reductions year-on-year. Unlike other award schemes, organisations are rewarded for actions they've taken to cut carbon across their own operations.

Efforts by Mark Walker, Area General Manager to reduce its impact on the environment have included initiatives such as bottle, oil & cardboard recycling to the fitting of timed lighting devices throughout the hotels.
