Support our Christmas Wish to become UK City of Culture!

Derry - Londonderry is calling on the people of Northern Ireland to get their friends and family across the world to register their on-line support for the city's ambition to win UK City of Culture 2013.

Launching the Christmas Wish campaign, Mayor, Cllr Paul Fleming said: "A lot of people are returning home for Christmas and we're taking the opportunity to tell them about the city's ambitious plan for 2013 and ask for their support. They may be interested in getting involved or simply welcome the city's bid to host an exceptional year of celebration and debate. All they have to do is register their support on www.cityofculture2013.com They could even enclose the postcard in their own Christmas cards and ensure the message goes out far and wide".

The city has developed a Christmas postcard to mark the date in everyone's diary and to encourage as many people as possible to think creatively about what the city could achieve during that year. It's a competitive bidding process so the more energy, ideas and support at the development phase will make a real difference.
