The Belfast Waterfront and Ulster Hall have become the first organisations in Northern Ireland to be presented with a European Best Model of Excellence award by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

The two Belfast City Council owned venues earned the award by demonstrating their commitment to visual awareness training for all staff and to the inclusion of blind and partially sighted people in the workplace; achieving universal accessibility to all the services they provide; and through the provision of audio described performances of their productions.

RNIB is the United Kingdom's leading charity representing and offering support to over two million people with sight problems, employing 3,000 staff across the UK, with more than 86 professional staff in Northern Ireland.
