50 YEARS IN BUSINESS

The Marylebone kitchen from Hayburn & Co. is equally comfortable residing in an urban or rural home setting. The design features clean lines, beaded framing and the addition of subtle curves.

The kitchen was designed with the impressive La Cornue Château G4 being the focal point. It was important to bring together the French look of the range and the industrial feel of the Sub Zero fridge freezer.

The cabinetry is painted in ‘Parchment’, one of the colours from the new range of paints by Hayburn & Co. The dark granite is Silver Galaxy and with a simple straight edge profile it emulates the simplicity of the industrial design.

To celebrate 50 years of business, Hayburn & Co. are relaunching the showroom in Ballymena. The showroom now features three recently launched kitchen collections; The Cavendish, The Hampton and The Marylebone.

NEW STORE COMING TO BELFAST

This June, the award-winning furniture, lighting and home accessories brand, Neptune, will open its 21st UK store in Belfast. The iconic Ormeau Bakery building is less than 10 minutes drive from Belfast city centre and marks Neptune’s first flagship store in Northern Ireland.

Founded in 1996 by friends, John Sims-Hilditch and Giles Redman, Neptune is an interiors retailer recognised for its exacting standards, design-led aesthetic and expert craftsmanship. Perhaps most well-known for its kitchens, every Neptune piece is designed for a lifetime of use, with its trademark ‘look’ being rooted in British heritage.

Like all of its stores, Neptune Belfast is designed to feel, first and foremost, like a home. The building has been designed by Neptune’s retail design team, transforming it into a one-floor living space with four spacious kitchens, two bedrooms, and a couple of living-dining areas.

“It’s surprising how much you can fit into a relatively small space,” explains Fred Horlock, the lead designer on the project from Neptune’s Retail Design Team. “It’s quite a contemporary space that’s full of light. You walk into a contemporary townhouse-style Suffolk kitchen. From there, there’s a more coastal-contemporary Chichester in our Shell palette with a whitewashed ceiling. One of the two bedrooms has a really contemporary feel which ties in beautifully with the open plan Limehouse kitchen and living area.”

Neptune Belfast will display a large portion of the collections with designs for every room of the home presented within a lifestyle environment. Its four kitchen collections will be showcased along with furniture for the bedroom, living room and dining area. Additionally, visitors to the store will see a design office and accessories area with a large floral display. It will also feature a section dedicated to Neptune Tailored. Here, customers will be able to get up close to its house-blended paints and the extensive selection of textiles that make up its fabric library.

More details of the store opening will be posted on Neptune’s website with plans set for a late June opening.

Northern Irish Architects Bradley & McAleenan open new office in Chelsea, London

Local architects Patrick Bradley and Bernard McAleenan have teamed up to open a new office in London.

Bradley & McAleenan Architects Ltd, Chelsea, which opened its doors in July 2016, is already working on several projects around the city and locally here in Northern Ireland.

“Individually we had a lot of clients from over the water so it made sense to open an office over there and where better than Chelsea, London?” says Bernard McAleenan.

“The local residents and businesses have been extremely welcoming and the interest we have received in three months has been overwhelming.”

Patrick became one of Northern Ireland’s most recognisable architects after featuring on Grand Designs with his multi award winning house, Grillagh Water. The house, which was constructed from stacked shipping containers, won two RIBA Awards amongst others and was nominated for the 2015 RIBA House of the Year. Patrick and Bernard not only studied together at Queen’s University, Belfast but also worked together in the beginning of their careers before opening their own practices.

“Bernard is another award winning, like-minded architect. We have the same design and work ethos so it was the perfect partnership for this new venture and an easy choice for us both”, said Patrick Bradley.

Patrick and Bernard have been producing well considered and innovative designs for over a decade. This new practice is growing the already established foundations that, as individuals, they have worked extremely hard to achieve and they are excited to see the expansion of their business both in Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, London and elsewhere.
